Method:
- Wash and soak the basmati rice for 30 minutes. Drain the water and keep it aside.
- Heat the oil and ghee in a large pot. Add the sliced onions and fry until golden brown. Remove half of the onions and keep them aside for later use.
- Add ginger and garlic paste to the remaining onions and fry for a minute.
- Add the mutton or chicken to the pot and fry until it turns golden brown.
- Add the red chili powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, garam masala powder, cumin powder, and salt. Fry for a minute.

- Cover the pot with a tight lid and cook on low heat for 15-20 minutes until the rice is fully cooked.
